Through SDVI's Net-zero Supply Chains initiative, ITV gained the ability to measure, collect, and report on the detailed operational data necessary to calculate and offset the entire carbon footprint of their Rally usage, including the use of third-party applications. The Low Energy Sustainable Streaming (LESS) accord project is an outreach to the wider non-member community. It aims to ensure GoS is not working in isolation. Last year we reached out to around 30 different forums, SDOs and conferences encouraging non-members who are engineers to tell us what they think is the obvious challenge to focus on. We distilled these ideas into 4 major projects. Now underway for many months they are all at various stages of progress. In this session each Project Lead will provide a 5-10 min update and we will take Q&A as we go. Topics include multicast / unicast / p2p, encoding and 'good enough', consolidation and practical use cases for aggregation of energy telemetry into actionable data, and finally a look at emerging technologies such as immersion cooling and wind turbines as data centres! Our major effort this year has been to deploy our 'Real-world Energy Measurement.' Spanning all our 'pillar' working groups (4,6,8) this session will talk in depth about the hackathons we are conducting, the technology behind them, the challenges, the observations and what's coming next. This session will allow the speakers to go into some depth. It will doubtless be a technical session, and will explore how we have been pioneering simple measurement of energy consumption end to end from the encoders in the data centres or production facilities, through the networks and into the consumers premesis. If 'measurement' is central to sustainability strategy, here is 'how' GoS is fast getting to grips with the vital data the industry needs, and at scale. Ben Schwarz Simon Jones

A round up of Working Groups 1,3,5,7,9: Each GoS WG lead will present about 5-10 mins on what the WGs are focussing in on touching on topics ranging from Lexicon, Best Practice, Audio, Energy as a KPI and Academic Engagment. As well as providing an overview of actual activities and outputs, we will encourage the WG leads to be honest about the challenges they face (its never plain sailing!) and yet emphasise the motivations behind the WGs and reasons why the challenges must be overcome come.
